Pinot Noir

Central Otago, New Zealand. Complex, savoury and distinctive with a bouquet filled with scents of Otago and variety, soil and ripe fruit. Cherry, raspberry and plum, dried herb, wild thyme and spices of oak. A core of fruit on the palate is accentuated with acidity, the barrel spices and Otago thyme flavours accentuated by tannins. Youthful, complex and lengthy on the palate with flavours that reflect a time and place, variety and excellent vintage..

Languedoc-Roussillon, France. The wine is quite clearly Pinot Noir, albeit a rather full flavoured one, and finishes with balancing acidity and tannin and good palate persistence...

Central Otago, New Zealand. A nose of dusty florals emphasised by pink roses and violets integrates seamlessly with Asian spices of cinnamon and clove. The palate opens softly, staying with the florals and adding fresh berries and a pleasing seam of minerality. Mouthcoating, but never cloying, it is subtle and caressing; a wine of harmony, restraint and sophistication that intrigues rather than shouts it’s breeding. It finishes with enough tannin to frame the wine neatly...

Marlborough, New Zealand. A much more structured style of Pinot Noir when compared to the Framingham bottling. From a vineyard with more clay content than those we have been using for Framingham, left on skins for much longer at the end of ferment. 16 months in French Oak. Harmless crystals may form in the bottle...

Labyrinthine flavours to get lost in and a slinky texture that makes that possibility all the more alluring. Bright acid, relatively assertive and fine smudgy tannin. Terrific....

Coal River Valley, Tasmania. In our obsession with Single Vineyard Pinot Noirs from great Pinot growing areas around the world, we have gone as far south (and as cold) as you can go in this country. Despite the cool temperatures, the sunlight hours are long and intense and we are intrigued by the depth of palate and colour that is possible from this landscape. While it is made with the Giant Steps gentle winemaking approach, the result is clearly a world apart in terroir...
