It's grown on an estate that has been around since (at least) 862 AD. The same family has run it since they purchased it from Napolean's government in 1805
A substantial wine without fuss – straight out and brilliant.
'No-nonsense' as the British would say.
Pleases the nose with white peach, green apple, some apricot and surprising hints of woodland strawberries. At the same time refreshing, cool and very appealing. On the palate the flavours are very well balanced, refined and stimulating: an exciting mix of peach and apple with a hint of Mirabelle underlaid by a restrained mineralic saltiness and a mellow acerbity.
Brilliant very pale straw colour with a subtle tinge of green to the edges and a watery hue. Filling the nose are alluring aromas of lime, red apple and honeysuckle which are followed by some slatey mineral notes. Zippy lime and red apple flavours overlay a delicate back drop of honeysuckle and infusions of orange blossom. Finishes dry and flinty with snappy acidity and an elegant aftertaste.
