Zonzo Estate, Yarra Valley, Victoria.
Led by winemaker Caroline Mooney, Zonzo vintages are made in small batches by hand. Every season is different, so their wines are too. Zonzo make wine how it’s always been done — picked from the vineyard, stomped, shovelled, plunged — all by hand (and foot) in their winery.
SCOPERTA RANGE
Scoperta (translation: to discover) is about experimentation and contemplation, with a nod to Zonzo'z Italian heritage. It’s for the explorer.
Made in smaller batches using Italian varieties atypical of YV, this newest range was started as a way to find varieties more sustainable for our changing YV climate while also creating some truly unique wines.
Best paired to open minds and any cuisine, Scoperta is a conversation starter. A great choice for those looking for something different.
Scoperta Pinot Grigio 2023
A classic!
This white wine is a true crowd pleaser! The perfume is mineral, lemon zest, pear skin, fennel and almond. Perfect for enjoying at Sunday afternoon lunch in good company. Pair this with some seared scallops and you can't go wrong!
Tasting Notes
This fresh yet textural Pinot Grigio is dry and elegant with a lovely line of fresh acidity. The perfume is mineral, lemon zest, pear skin, fennel and almond. Lovely aromats with some restrained savoury notes following the lifted fruit characters. The barrel fermentation of a small portion provides a subtle savoury contrast to the bright and crunchy citrus profile. Layered into these characters is a chalky minerality working beautifully to add to the freshness of this wine.
