Coates, South Australia

Great wines reflect their place of origin, and speak of the grape variety from which they are made. To achieve this goal Coates Wines has a no compromise approach to craft wines that blend the best in Australian and European winemaking styles, to bridge the gap between the fruit-driven Australian style and the savoury, complex wines of Old World Europe. The vineyards used to make the wines that bear the Coates label express purity of flavour that allow regional and varietal characters to be clearly articulated.

La Petite Cuvée Sparkling Shiraz NV

The Cuvee Shiraz is Coates' premier vintage sparkling red. Over the past few years barrels had been kept aside from classification tastings to go into a sharply priced non vintage sparkling red; La Petite Cuvee.

Winemaking

The base wines are predominately French oak matured Shiraz from, McLaren Vale and the Adelaide Hills. Rounding out the blend are small percentages of Cabernet Sauvignon of up to five years of age. The inclusion of older base wines were to provide complexity and depth to the palate and aroma.

The minimalist approach used to make the La Petite Cuvee NV precludes the use of the additives and fining agents such as enzymes, egg, fish or milk products (this wine is Vegan friendly).
