Winemaker Ben (Mr.) Riggs follows the philosophy "iconic wines from iconic regions”. Whether it’s McLaren Vale Shiraz, Coonawarra Cabernet, or Clare Valley Riesling, his wines are expressing the essence of the vineyard and variety in a style that is big, rich and complex, but also with finesse, texture and elegance. Mr. Riggs Generation Series are wines that afford Ben the opportunity to make magic with interesting varieties and remarkable vineyards. It’s all about a personal connection with each wine, each with a unique story to tell.
The Magnet Grenache 2018
The 100 year old dry grown Grenache vines are located at Dogridge vineyard in McLaren Vale. The vines are low yielding but each bunch provides a concentrated array of flavours from ripe cherries to plums and blackberries. On the nose is raspberry perfume, laden with cherries and liquorice. Vibrant earth plum with hints of spice of cumin, wooden bark and chocolate round the palate and give it an unctuous mouth feel.
