Aspiring to excellence, owners Gaetano and Pio Francesco Tamellini have earned the estate an outstanding reputation as one of only two dozen estate-bottled growers and producers of authentic Soave. With the assistance of Paolo Caciorgna, one of Italy’s most accomplished white winemakers, the metamorphosis from supplier to producer began in 1998.
The 34 hectares of vineyards are planted to 100% Garganega (27 hectares of Soave DOC and 7 hectares of Soave Classico) and lie in one of the most classic zones of production which is San Vittore, at the foot of the hills, where they produce Soave DOC from the zone of Costeggiola from which Tamellini produce their single vineyard 'Le Bine'. Disease and pest control are carried out only when necessary using environmentally friendly products such as Bordeaux poultice and dry sulphur products. No type of herbicide is used, only the grass is
mown. No mineral or organic fertilisers are used.
