30 years of experience working with chardonnay and pinot noir in California have established La Crema as a winery of consistent quality. La Crema produces wines from California‘s top cool-climate appellations : Russian River Valley, Sonoma Coast, Los Carneros, Anderson Valley and Monterey. Outstanding vineyard sources, limited yields and artisanal wine making have produced wines that receive high acclaim.
Winemaker's Notes
The vineyards of Monterey are defined by persistent ocean winds that are funneled down a 90-mile-long valley that runs north to south between the Santa Lucia and Gabilan Mountains. These strong winds combine with abundant sun and scarce rainfall to give this wine region one of the longest, coolest growing seasons in California.
The fruit was harvested in the early morning hours to ensure arrival at the winery while still cool. The grapes were pressed to tank and allowed to settle for 24 hours before being barreled down for 100% barrel fermentation in 86% French oak (20% new). 100% of the blend underwent secondary malolactic fermentation in barrel. The wine was,stirred every three weeks as it aged 6 months on the lees.
Tasting Notes
This wine opens with layered aromas of jasmine, tropical fruit, fresh white peach and ripe citrus. On the palate, flavors of melon and ripe pear take center stage, framed by hints of mango, vanilla custard and wet river stone. A broad mouthfeel beautifully balances the juicy acidity.
