Domaine Heresztyn-Mazzini
Following a decade working on the family vineyard Florence Heresztyn with her husband Simon Mazzini (from Champagne) decided to create their own Domaine, which today covers 5.5 hectares spread across the villages of Gevrey-Chambertin, Morey-Saint-Denis, and Chambolle-Musigny.
At Domaine Heresztyn-Mazzini, every action is deliberate and thoroughly researched, from the vine to the cellar. Florence and Simon respect the environment and use environmentally friendly pest control, and spend a lot of time out amongst the vines, carefully monitoring their growth.
With the experience of six winemaking seasons behind them, they have chosen whole bunch fermentation to give both structure and texture to the wines, which are matured for 12-16 months in barrels from carefully selected coopers. The wine is bottled on the estate, according to the lunar calendar. Florence and Simon are focused on achieving the best from their vineyards in the Cote de Nuits, the elegance of Chambolle-Musigny, the depth of Gevrey-Chambertin, and the complexity of Clos-Saint-Denis.
Tasting Notes
Vinification
The grapes from this climate are from "millerandée" bunches (small berries). Well-rounded tannins must be encouraged so as to favour the elegance of this Premier Cru. Vinification must be low on extraction as the wine possesses all the natural structure necessary, as well as lovely acidity. Such good balance!
Appearance
Ruby red colour.
Aroma
The nose is thoroughly distinguished and of great complexity (coffee, cherry, raspberry, blueberry, violet…), all underpinned by its thread of elegance.
Palate
With fine balance between strength of body and expression of fruit, it knows how to soften its tannins and offer generous fleshiness. In summary, this wine surprises by the nobility of its aromas, the elegance and complexity of its structure.
Cellaring Potential
You can appreciate this wine between 7 and 15 years old.
