Ingram Rd is an exciting range of wines from Helen’s Hill Estate, a boutique winery in the renowned Yarra Valley. The Ingram Rd range of wines are made following traditional boutique wine making techniques only found at the top end of the price range; premium fruit from select vineyards in the Yarra Valley and Central Victoria, small batch sizes, open top fermenters, full French oak maturation, 'wild' fermentation, hand crafted by a single winemaker...all trademarks of quality boutique wines. Ingram Rd delivers these qualities, without the price tag!

SCOTT MCCARTHY

Winemaker Scott McCarthy was born in the wine game. From the moment he was old enough to walk his father had him in the family vineyard picking grapes. Scott joined Yalumba and after spending 10 years working in the Barossa Valley, he spent a number of years in areas as diverse as the USA's Napa Valley, the Loire Valley and Languedoc region in France, and Marlborough, in New Zealand. He came to realise that making wines from a cool climate region was where his true winemaking passion lay, and as a result he settled back in Australia at one of the best cool climate regions in the world; the Yarra Valley.

Pinot Grigio

Pinot Grigio is a grape variety that is one of the oldest in the world but has only recently started to gain a following in Australia. A long time favorite in Europe, especially Italy, Pinot Grigio has now started to be enjoyed by the Australian drinking public for it’s unique flavours and delicious textural qualities.Pinot Grigio can be quite confusing as the styles can vary greatly depending on when and how the winemaker chooses to pick and process the fruit. Gris can be picked early and processed entirely in tank which results in a tight, mineral, sometimes flinty wine, while at the other end of the spectrum, fruit can be picked late, fermented in barrel with the resultant wine being quite viscous, displaying full ripe fruit flavours and an almost oily finish on the palate.

At Helen’s Hill Estate, we combine the best of both methods and produce a Pinot Grigio that is somewhere in the middle! The result is a wine that displays a clean fresh finish balancing both fruit flavours and acidity from tank fermentation with nuances of rich, quite textural flavours on the mid palate from the barrel fermentation. A great white wine for any season.
