Cotes-de-la-Moliere - Isabelle & Bruno Perraud
The Perraud’s are located in a small mountain village called Vauxrenard which is west of Fleurie. This village is located at 500 metres above sea level and only a few brave vignerons remain, given the difficulty of farming such steep slopes. They have been working without any herbicides and pesticides since 2002 after Bruno Perraud fell seriously ill due to extended pesticide exposure. It was at this point that they questioned the addition of these chemicals on their vineyards given the impact that they could have on human life. Since then all the vineyards have been farmed organically and many converted to full biodynamic practices. They are big believers in the positive benefits of bacterial life in the vineyards and surrounds.
PERRAUD MORGON
The Morgon site is in the climate of Douby where the soil is a combination of decomposed granite and friable shale rock which has evident effect on the resulting wine. The vines are over 60 years old and as expected the yields are very low. The winemaking is the same as the Fleurie.!
Tasting Notes
Spice tinged aromas of black raspberry, cherry and an explosive mineral accented nose. Chewy and focused on the palate, offering vibrant, deeply concentrated dark cherry and red berry flavours along with fine grained, harmonious tannins. Powerful yet surprisingly lithe Morgon.
