Starborough Wines is owned and operated by Bill and Lynette Jones and their two sons Andrew and James. The Jones family has been farming in Marlborough for four generations.
A pure and classy Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, expressing white nectarine, passionfruit and lime zest flavours with a hint of musky complexity. Intensely aromatic on the nose, the palate displays smooth fruit richness and juicy acidity. The wine is harmoniously balanced with a crisp lingering finish.
Viticulture/Winemaking
The fruit was sourced in equal portions from two individual Starborough vineyards. O’Dwyers Farm Vineyard in the Rapaura district (Wairau) and Long Lane Vineyard (Awatere Valley) located on the northern side of the Awatere River in the lower Daswood area. Both sites provide the perfect conditions for growing premium cool climate Sauvignon Blanc.
The fruit was pressed off as quickly as possible to minimise skin contact and juice deterioration following harvesting. After settling, the juice was fermented using selected yeast in stainless steel at cool temperatures retaining fruit flavour and freshness.
