Starborough Wines is owned and operated by Bill and Lynette Jones and their two sons Andrew and James. The Jones family has been farming in Marlborough for four generations.
An elegant wine with rich fruit and exotic floral elements. The nose features focussed aromas of ripe pear, mango, mandarin and pure white florals. Dry to taste, the palate is richly textured and beautifully weighted with a long, silky finish.
Viticulture/Winemaking
The fruit was sourced from three Starborough vineyards. 65% O’Dwyers Farm Vineyard in the heart of the Wairau Valley and 35% Starborough Terrace Vineyard and Long Lane Vineyard located in the Awatere Valley. All sites have complemented each other to produce an elegantly balanced and complex wine. The three vineyards were carefully monitored during ripening and hand-picked in cool early morning conditions at peak maturity and flavour development. The fruit was crushed and pressed quickly at cool temperatures to retain fruit flavour and freshness. Mostly handled is tank, a 10% portion of the juice was fermented in seasoned French oak barrels adding weight, texture and complexity to the finished wine.
