WINEMAKER’S NOTES
Amadio Vineyard, Kersbrook, Adelaide Hills

Each year the Aglianico  struggles to produce a canopy or a decent crop, and a warm, low rainfall year like 2015 was no different. Equally  each year the grapes show very similar characters at harvest and  make a strikingly similar wine to the last, with only colour showing the greatest differences. Again we see the usual suspects of roses and cherries, a soft acid, dry and textural palate with that little bit of grip on the finish that we love.
Pale salmon hue in colour.

Aglianico, native to Campania in Italy, is grown here on pretty much my  favourite bit of dirt at Kersbrook, in the northern Adelaide Hills.  Kersbrook is one of the warmest parts of the Hills and so lends itself to  these Southern Italian varieties so well. Grown and picked early specifically to make Rosato. Its only skin  contact is during the truck ride to the winery and is pressed out  quickly with about 20% of the juice diverted straight off the press tray  for a high solids, wild ferment component in olf French oak, which adds some extra texture and the remaining to tank for a cool fermentation to capture the fine aromatics.
