Grape harvest occurred in late February when the fruit was ripe and flavours were fully developed. In the winery the grapes were destemmed and wild fermented in open-top stainless steel vessels with gentle pumpovers and plunging. The wine was pressed to tank before being racked to neutral French oak barriques and stainless steel tank to mature. The inaugural Henrietta Tempranillo was bottled in December 2019 under a stelvin closure.
Tasting Notes
This Tempranillo rings true to the Henrietta style; bright, fresh and thoroughly drinkable. The nose is vibrant, with fresh red berries and red current intertwined with a touch of exotic spice and rosemary. The palate is well balanced showing wild red berries, cherry and spice tied together with soft tannins for a long bright finish.
