FIVE GEESE WINES, McLAREN VALE SA
Sue Trott is dedicated to her Five Geese wines, which come from vines planted in 1927 & 1965. Mainly Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache & Mataro. After on selling the fruit for many years, in 1999, she decided to create her own label and make small parcels from hand picked vines, which are run on Organic principles.
Five Geese Shiraz 2017
McLaren Vale, South Australia. Blewitt Springs Single Vineyard. 2016 was an outstanding vintage producing a wine with lots of dark berry flavours and excellent balance.
Colour: Attractive deep red-black colour.
Nose: Subtle yet complex nose of savoury, spicy dark blackberry, herbs and slight vanilla aromas.
Palate: A restrained and elegant palate with soft plum and spice flavours in the middle and a gentle tannin finish at the end. Lingers nicely, dry and spice.
Oak: 16 months in predominately French and American oak hogsheads.
Aging Potential: This wine has the potential to develop with careful medium-long term cellaring.
