Paringa Estate
Lindsay McCall’s winemaking legacy began in 1984 with the purchase of a 10 acre derelict orchard. Subsequently, access to a further 45 acres of vineyards has increased the estate’s source of quality fruit. Having received numerous awards over the years, Lindsay’s hard work culminated in 2007 with Paringa Estate being awarded James Halliday’s ‘Winery of the Year’.
THE PARINGA
The name "The Paringa” denotes the single vineyard origin of this wine. Lindsay McCall planted the first vines on the Paringa Estate vineyard in 1985, with ten acres being under vine by 1990. From this site fruit of distinction is born from a combination of red volcanic (Ferrasol) soil, a north facing aspect and altitude of 146m on Paringa Road, Red Hill South. In creating this wine viticulture and winemaking practices are approached with the intent of preserving a pure expression of site from soil through to bottle.
TASTING NOTES
The bouquet of this wine shows a complex mix of grapefruit and stone fruit, combined with a hint of struck match barrel ferment aromas. The palate displays ripe stone fruit, a rich texture, round mouth feel but also a fineness reflective of the cool season.
