Paringa Estate
Lindsay McCall’s winemaking legacy began in 1984 with the purchase of a 10 acre derelict orchard. Subsequently, access to a further 45 acres of vineyards has increased the estate’s source of quality fruit. Having received numerous awards over the years, Lindsay’s hard work culminated in 2007 with Paringa Estate being awarded James Halliday’s ‘Winery of the Year'.
THE PENINSULA RANGE
The Peninsula or 'PE' label represents the first tier in the Paringa Estate range. In recent years Paringa has renewed its focus in ensuring the Peninsula range over delivers on quality, this Shiraz is no exception.
WINEMAKING
In the winery berries were de-stemmed and co-fermented with 5% Viognier in two-tonne open fermenters. Post fermentation, barrel maturation took place for 11 months.
TASTING NOTES
The vibrant bouquet offers spicy blackberry fruit along with the lifted floral Viognier aromatics. The palate has ample black fruits, black pepper and fine grained tannins. A medium bodied wine with texture and power but with a fineness that relects its cool climate origin.
