The owners of Mollydooker Wines, Sarah & Sparky Marquis, are some of the most decorated winemakers in the world. They have received five 99-point scores from Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate; four of their wines have been chosen in the Wine Spectator’s ‘Top 100’ and their Carnival of Love Shiraz has made the Wine Spectator ‘Top 10’ list two years in a row. Sarah and Sparky have been named ‘Australian Winemakers of the Year’, have been chosen by Robert Parker among the ‘Top Wine Personalities in the World’, and have been crowned ‘McLaren Vale’s Bushing King and Queen’ a record three times.
Winemaker tasting notes
The Two Left Feet combines the best elements of Shiraz, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon in a seamless blend. The Merlot has perfumed fruit while the Shiraz brings richness as well as depth and the Cabernet provides firm tannins and dark blackberry flavours. The combination creates great complexity but also great length, mocha and spice are the lasting flavours but each new taste shows more attractive fruit and delicious flavours. ~Matt~
It’s an exciting time when this wine comes together. The three varieties marry together into a wine of great complexity. The predominant Shiraz variety radiates mixed fresh berries, dark currants and plum followed by Cabernet & Merlot aromas of black olive and dark cherry. Rich powerful layers of blackberry, vanilla cream and aniseed spice fill the palate which is accompanied by a seamless finish that lasts forever. ~Peter~
technical notes
The grapes were grown on the Mollydooker vineyards in McLaren Vale. Barrel fermented and matured in 96% American and 4% French oak using 46% new and 54% one year old barrels.
