The owners of Mollydooker Wines, Sarah & Sparky Marquis, are some of the most decorated winemakers in the world. They have received five 99-point scores from Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate; four of their wines have been chosen in the Wine Spectator’s ‘Top 100’ and their Carnival of Love Shiraz has made the Wine Spectator ‘Top 10’ list two years in a row. Sarah and Sparky have been named ‘Australian Winemakers of the Year’, have been chosen by Robert Parker among the ‘Top Wine Personalities in the World’, and have been crowned ‘McLaren Vale’s Bushing King and Queen’ a record three times.
Winemaker tasting notes
A Merlot with brilliant red colour and a fragrant cherry and plum nose, mouth filling berry fruit on the palette with mocha and spice lingering along the tongue. The 2015 Scooter has racy acid that really brightens the fruit, a vibrant and perfumed wine with great plummy intensity. The tannins are soft and supple while the subtle oak compliments the abundant fruit. Balanced yet expressive the Scooter is joyous and enjoyable. ~Matt~
technical notes
The grapes were grown on the biodynamic Gemtree vineyards in McLaren Vale. Barrel fermented and matured in 90% American oak and 10% French Oak using 35% new and 65% one year old barrels.
