Nick Glaetzer began his winemaking journey with his family in the Barossa Valley, following with vintages in the Languedoc, the Pfalz, Margaret River, the Riverland, Sunraysia, the Hunter Valley and Burgundy.
In 2005 Nick landed in Tasmania, searching for cool-climate, super-premium vineyards; perfect for crafting pinot noir, riesling and savoury shiraz. Established in 2008, Glaetzer-Dixon is now an eminent Tasmanian winemaker.
Überblanc Riesling is attributed to the über 2001 harvest Nick Glaetzer experienced in the town of Forst, in the Pfalz region of Germany. Working with Stephan Müller at Weingut Eugen Müller, Nick learned first hand winemaking techniques used by the Germans in crafting elegantly structured rieslings with harmonious fruit and acid balance.The Tasmanian grapes sourced for the 2015 Überblanc Riesling display the core elements of juicy mineral acid and subtle citrus flavours, highly regarded traits in quality riesling.
