Immich-Batterieberg
Gernot Kollmann is the man at Immich-Batteriberg, formerly at Van Volxem and Knebel among others, to run the property and to vinify the wines. Coincidentally, Gernot had a strong interest in Immich-Batterieberg years before and even sought investors for this once renowned estate but to no avail. Since taking over, Gernot’s first two vintages have been an enormous success.
Tasting Notes
This starts off with a touch of reduction underlined by yeasty notes before gradually developing beautifully elegant and floral notes paired with yellow peach, dried spices and pineapple. The wine is compact, dense and concentrated on the palate yet at no point gives the impression of being unnecessarily weighty. More yellow fruits and spices emerge in the long and complex finish. Bittersweet flavors kick then in to bring a deliciously fresh side to the after-taste.
