Shaky Bridge Wines is located below the southern 45th parallel in the magnificent Alexandra Basin of New Zealand’s stunningly beautiful Central Otago. The Alexandra Basin is the most southern winegrowing region on the planet, so the growing environment is all about cool climate viticulture. Shaky Bridge has selected grape varieties and clones that thrive in the natural conditions of the basin with the goal of producing intensely flavoured wines of superb quality. Such focus on quality is at the heart of their viticultural and vinification decisions, creating deliciously memorable wines.
Winemaking Notes
We destemmed and lightly crushed high quality Pinot Noir grapes from 4 different source blocks in to stainless steel tanks for a cold soak period of 7 days. Primary fermentation took place at warm temperatures, and we ‘pumped over’ several times a day to achieve maximum color and flavor extraction. Malolactic took place in a mixture of old and newer French Oak barrels, with a maturation period of 10 months in barrel. We cold stabilized and lightly filtered the wine before bottling.
Winemakers Tasting Notes
Our established and well received style of vivid, deep color, rich fruit, ripe tannins, spices and earth, maintains our high value for money standards we deliver in all our Pioneer Series wines. Very full on the palate, a touch of glycerol coats the mouth, delivering a long, welcome and very smooth finish. Easily enjoyed on its own, this wine has the depth of flavor to match with a wide variety of foods such as chicken, lamb and venison.
