Framingham Wines
Established in 1994, but with estate Riesling vineyards planted in 1981, Framingham is a boutique wine company with its own winery, offering a range of expressive and individual Marlborough wines made in limited quantities. Four diverse styles of Riesling from the old vines show off the estate’s stony terroir in a distinctly Germanic fashion, whist Pinot Gris and Gewürztraminer bring to mind the styles of Alsace.

'We take a low impact approach to vineyard management with a lot of hand work and a strong environmental focus avoiding systemic chemicals and planting flowers to encourage biodiversity. Accredited as a sustainable vineyard and winery under the Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand program, we are currently in conversion to organic viticulture – further minimising our impact on the land and bringing things back into balance.'
Tasting Notes
A much more structured style of Pinot Noir when compared to the Framingham bottling. From a vineyard with more clay content than those we have been using for Framingham, left on skins for much longer at the end of ferment. 16 months in French Oak. Harmless crystals may form in the bottle.
