Colour
Deep dark red, black core

Aroma
Lifted red-black fruits with menthol and mint adding further high-toned notes. Juniper, cassis and nutmeg add depth and intrigue to this compelling nose.

Palate
As always, a rather polarizing palate: warm climate notes of thick black fruits crash across the palate, then just as you feel the onslaught, waves of menthol and mint chocolate rush through adding freshness and length. A lovely layered palate from a great vintage. Tannins make their presence felt late, but are soft and satiny in nature.

Winemaking
Crushed into and fermented in five tonne open top fermenters with regular pump overs; three daily during peak fermentation to extract colour, flavour and tannin. Following 14 days of maceration, the dry free run was drained to tank and the skins pressed to the same tank. 24 hours later the wine was then racked to barrel, where malolactic fermentation took place. Minimal fining and unfiltered.
