Domaine A, Coal River Valley, Tasmainia
Domaine A is set in one of the most pristine natural environments in the world.
Established in 1973, the historic Stoney Vineyard is the oldest in Tasmania’s Coal River Valley. Just half an hour's drive from the city of Hobart, the 11ha single vineyard domaine is owned and operated by H. Peter and Ruth Althaus. It is the culmination of a long and exhaustive world-wide search for terroir ideally suited to cool-climate viticulture.
Varieties grown include red grapes Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Pinot Noir and the white grape Sauvignon Blanc.
Domaine A Cabernet Sauvignon 2013
Deep Ruby colour. Aromatics of Chinese plum blossom, blackberry and clove woven with whispers of cedar. A complex wine driven by terroir and a vintage of tremendous quality. Ripe dark cherry and cassis characters with seamless elegance, fine tannic structure and perfect natural balance.
Domaine A Cabernet Sauvignon is crafted in small batches employing traditional techniques including open vat fermentation, regular racking and hand plunging with extended time on lees. It is matured in 100% new French oak barriques for three years and rested in the cellar more until ready for release.
Domaine A Cabernet Sauvignon has a proven record of critical acclaim in company with the great wines of the world. It is recognised in the elite echelon of Australian wine and enjoys a strong following among collectors.
