Weingut Nigl

"The wine grows in the vineyard” according to Martin Nigl who produces wines that are pure and crystalline with fantastic minerality and are a clear display of their unique terroir. The richness of materials in the wines is due to the soil of primary rocks (weather-worn granite). Also the micro-climate of the Kremstal and the huge impact of intense heat in the summer and severe cold in the winter have a decisive influence on the wine. It is quite common that hot summer days are followed by cool night temperatures coming from the Waldviertel (the wind that blows across the vineyards in the region). Consequently the grape skins, stretched by the warm sunlight during the day, can easily absorb the manifold flavours of the cool nights.
