The quality of this site was identified by monks 700 years ago. Bernhard Huber makes superb young-vine Pinot Noir plus sensual Grosses Gewächs.
‘The Huber Winery in Malterdingen is in the deep South-West of Germany, located on the foothills of the Black Forest mountains between Strassbourg in the French Alsace Region and the city Basel in Switzerland. On approx. 25 ha we cultivate round about 65 % Pinot Noir. For over 700 years Pinot Noir is cultivated in our village first documented in 1285. Cisterciensan monks brought the Pinot Noir tradition from Burgundy into our region…!'

Tasting Notes
This Pinot Noir comes from plants that are between 20 and 40 years old. The distinctive old deep root system always gives this wine great minerality. According to the traditional mash fermentation method it is aged 18 months in oak barrels. This old vine Pinot Noir has been filled unfiltered since 1991.
Very concentrated bouquet of mineral spice and fruit with wonderful intensity. Wonderful spice and floral notes. Lovely concentration and depth of flavours on the palate with freshness and a host of spice and mineral notes on the finish. Very fresh and firm acidity holding things together nicely.
