Georg Breuer Terra Montosa Riesling 2021
The Rheingau, Germany. "Minerally and smoky, this rich white shows pear, Fuji apple and gooseberry flavours. The midpalate is filled with intense slate notes, which linger on the white pepper —and salt-accented finish. Drink now through 2025..."

Georg Breuer
Production at Breuer follows a strict terroir-based hierarchy for the production of naturally dry wines made from healthy, ripe Riesling grapes, featuring Breuer's flagship Crus Rüdesheim Berg Schlossberg (artist series dating from 1980) and the 12.5-acre monopole Rauenthal Nonnenberg. Finally, an excellent regional Rheingau Riesling, 'GB', offers great value in the inimitable, elegant Breuer style.

Breuer wines are characterized by precise balance of flavor extract and racy aromatic elegance from slate soils, achieved through disciplined harvesting and minuscule yields. Natural clarification results from fermentation and less contact in oak ovals. Breuer Rieslings are classical and meant for the serious table. They are ageworthy, investment-quality wines of the highest order, regarded with considerable awe by the international trade and press.

Terra Montosa Riesling 2021

To achieve a stringent selection in the Grand Cru wines, the Georg Breuer estate in Germany's Rheingau has been combining the second best sites from the top single vineyards to create Terra Montosa since the 1990 vintage. The name "Terra Montosa” comes from Latin "steep land” found in a certificate dated 1074, which records the original wine growing history of the vineyards in the Rüdesheim slopes.

Tasting Notes
Text book for this wine and from a richer and more powerful vintage. The citric elements are less lime and more lemon pith and curd, the white stone fruits are very much into the peach spectrum (yet still delicate). Despite this it is also tastes more of the earth than it quite often does. Less tropical and 'Nonnenberg' and more slatey, à la Rudesheim. Succulent in the mouth, forceful up front, gentle through the middle and stern and framed at the end, the acid pushing out a lot of stone fruit sweetness. Delicious.
