Chardonnay , Gimblett Gravels Vineyard, Hawkes Bay
Made from multiple parcels of Chardonnay clones B95, B96, UCD15 and Mendoza planted on the more heavy, yet stony soils within the Gimblett Gravels Vineyard, each parcel contributes a unique character to the wine.
The Gimblett Gravels Chardonnay is made using very traditional winemaking techniques involving wild yeasts and the use of French oak barriques. The resulting wine is always finely flavoured and softly textured with a linear elegance that allows the wine to retain its freshness.
Tasting Notes
Very pale straw colour streaked with youthful green hues. A combination of lemon, nectarine, acacia flowers and flint provides a subtle yet complex aroma. Our tightest Gimblett Gravels Chardonnay yet. Medium weight, steely acidity and fresh fruit flavours.
It has great persistence which releases waves of high floral note complexity on the finish.
Food Match: Scallops, rich and creamy seafood dishes.
Cellaring: 5 years from vintage
