Peter Lehmann of the Barossa Valley
At Peter Lehmann Wines the art of winemaking goes hand in hand with the many people, stories and wines that make the Barossa famous.
It is now part of Barossa legend that Peter Lehmann established the winery in the late 1970s, to protect the livelihood of growers who were facing financial ruin. To this day over 140 growers, some 5th & 6th generation, supply the winery with fruit from the very best vineyards throughout the Barossa. These amazing grape resources enable Peter Lehmann to make wines for every occasion, each one crafted to deliver on quality.
Barossa Excellence Collection
The backbone of Peter Lehmann Wines is the independent grape growers and more than 900 individual vineyards laid across the length and breadth of the Barossa landscape. Our relationships with the Barossa growers as well as knowledge of the provenance and pedigree of their vineyards, has no peer in the Barossa winemaking community. This loyal bond and legacy gives us unrivalled access to the best vineyards. These exceptional vineyards are the heart of this collection of rare wines that define excellence in Barossa winemaking.
Barossa Excellence Eight Songs Shiraz
Eight Songs Shiraz was born of our love of art and music and inspired by an operatic work, ‘Eight Songs for Mad King’, first performed in the Barossa in 1993.
Tasting Notes
This Shiraz is dense in colour with a bright red hue, showing notes of dark chocolate and oak, combined with lifted cherry and plum aromas. To finish with soft, velvety tannins and soft red fruits on the palate.
Production
Fermented and macerated on skins for up to 2 weeks with some partial barrel fermentation. Following pressing and clarification, the wine was matured in French oak hogsheads for approximately 15 months.
