Peter Lehmann of the Barossa Valley
At Peter Lehmann Wines the art of winemaking goes hand in hand with the many people, stories and wines that make the Barossa famous.
It is now part of Barossa legend that Peter Lehmann established the winery in the late 1970s, to protect the livelihood of growers who were facing financial ruin. To this day over 140 growers, some 5th & 6th generation, supply the winery with fruit from the very best vineyards throughout the Barossa. These amazing grape resources enable Peter Lehmann to make wines for every occasion, each one crafted to deliver on quality.
The Barossa Arts Series
The Barossa Art Series comprises a vibrant collection of grape varieties – Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Merlot, Semillon, Chardonnay, Riesling, Chenin Blanc, Tempranillo and Frontignac.
The Arts Series Cabernet Merlot
Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, two of the world’s great red wine varieties, flourish in the Barossa. As single varieties they have made their mark, but blended in carefully selected proportions, each brings to the other an added dimension to give a red wine of classical breeding and distinction.
Our Barossa Art Series Cabernet Merlot is a great example of the ability of these two classic varieties to create a rich and harmonious blend. Try with a chorizo and pepperoni pizza, vegetarian lasagne, a slow cooked ragu or even a paella.
Tasting Notes
This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot has a deep brooding black cherry colour. The nose shows classical aromas of black currant and plums with a hint of violets. The palate offers dark chocolate and blackberry: the beautiful fruit reined in with supple fine-grained tannins and it has a tight savoury finish. A wine of superb structure and style.
