Mountadam
Established in 1972 as one of Australia's pioneer Chardonnay producers, Mountadam was founded by the late David Wynn, without question one of the most significant contributors to the Australian wine industry and an important part of the Mountadam story.
In selecting the land for the Mountadam vineyard, Wynn was the first to recognise the potential of a cool, elevated site to produce wines of great elegance and structure, and chose an area high above the Eden Valley, which he named High Eden. At 570 metres above sea level, Mountadam is still to this day one of Australia's most elevated vineyards. As of 2005, the vineyard has been owned by South Australian businessman David Brown, who has made significant investment in vineyard improvement and expansion

Tasting Notes
Grapes/Blend
100% Chardonnay
Vinification
The Marble Hill Chardonnay vines were hand harvested and then hand sorted on March 3, 2015. The fruit was gently pressed and the free run portion collected and settled. The juice was racked and filled to new French oak barriques for fermentation.
Maturation
Once fermentation ceased the barrels were topped and stirred regularly for eight months. During this time the wine went through natural malolactic fermentation. In November 2015, the wines were racked and returned to the same oak for further maturation. The wine underwent barrel maturation for a total of fifteen months.
Appearance
Straw in colour with a green hue.
Aroma
Ripe peach, meyer lemons and quince fruits. Lifted aromas of hazelnut, cinnamon and cream. The wine also has an underlying aroma of white truffle.
Palate
The palate has well balanced flavours of peach, meyer lemon, toasted almond, hazelnut and cinnamon. The wine has a tight acid line and integrated oak tannins which provide structure and length. The wine has excellent length and long persistence. The palate is left with meyer lemon and hazelnut flavours long after the wine has left the mouth.
