Tim Gramp Wines
Tim Gramp is a fifth generation member of the family that made Orlando famous.
His grandfather Hugo Gramp was Managing Director of Orlando. His father "Snowy” Gramp was a Director and Viticultural Manager.
The Gramp family sold the company based in the Barossa Valley in the early ‘70’s, but Tim has continued the tradition by "flying the flag” under his personal label.
A graduate of Roseworthy College’s Wine Production and Marketing course, Tim spent a number of years in the McLaren Vale region learning his craft. Then in 1991, Tim gained access to some superb McLaren Vale Shiraz fruit and set about making his first vintage.

The fruit was sourced off the Castine family Golf House vineyard grown in the famous Watervale region. The soil profile is red loam over limestone and the yield was 2.8 tonnes/acre.

Good ripening conditions allowed for the development of pronounced citrus aromas and flavours. The grapes were harvested in late February. Only the free run juice is used for the Tim Gramp Riesling. Fermentation was over a couple of weeks – after cold stabilising/filtering, the wine was bottled in mid September.

A classic dry style of Riesling with seductive lemon, lime and floral aromas. The provocative citrus flavours on the palate are balanced with invigorating acidity and good length of flavour. Time in the cellar of 6 – 7 years will reward the consumer with a wine of enticing complexity.
