Colour: Pale straw colour. Nose: Powerful citrus and lime backbone surrounded by subtle tropical aromas. Palate: Crisp, almost crunchy acidity on the tongue provides structure for the citrus/tropical focus. Great balance and structure with an equally impressive lingering finish. Another with potential for development.
DJW is Daniel James Wilson. In his junior days the young Wilson had a slogan which seemed to follow him everywhere- "DJW rules". Deceptively simple, the message was repeated with regularity on school book covers, desks, garden edgings and wet concrete whenever the opportunity arose. With time and maturity the slogan disappeared but the initals DJW were often used by family members when referring to the future winemaker.
In 1997 with encouragement and help from his father Dr. John Wilson, Daniel established a small 5.5 acre plot of Riesling in the highest and most fertile corner of the Wilson property. It was a natural progression to name this vineyard the DJW vineyard.
