THE RESULT OF AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE ANTHONYS, (TOOP AND PARKINSON),THE FIRST-EVER PENNY’S HILL SAUVIGNON BLANC FROM TOOP’S KUITPO VINEYARD IN THE ADELAIDE HILLS.
VARIETALS: SAUVIGNON BLANC – 100%
REGION: ADELAIDE HILLS
VINEYARD: Fruit is from the 11 acres of Sauvignon Blanc plantings in the Battunga Vineyard, located in the Kuitpo region of the southern Mount Lofty ranges in the Adelaide Hills. Cane pruned on VPS trellising, the vines were planted on their own roots back in 1997.
VINIFICATION: Each vineyard parcel was destemmed, with the grapes going
straight to press. Two hours of skin contact allowed more flavour to be extracted, before free-run and pressings underwent cool fermentation separately. Left in stainless steel tanks, once ferment was complete, the wine was settled out and the juice blended, prior to bottling.
Tasting Notes
COLOUR: Pale straw, refined golden tone
BOUQUET: Tropical fruit concoctions, such as banana chips and peaches and cream, with a slight herbaceous scent
PALATE: Great purity and elegance. Flinty, edgy with crisp minerality, this classy, fresh wine shows fine balance and clean, natural acidity.
CELLARING: Ready to drink now, but will cellar for up to 2 years
