MOUNT LANGI GHIRAN
The vineyards of Mount Langi Ghiran are nestled in the Grampians, between two dramatically beautiful mountain ranges on the southern edge of the Great Dividing Range, 180km west of Melbourne. Pronounced "Mount Langee Jeeran", the name is Aboriginal for "Home of the Yellow-Tailed Black Cockatoo". The governing principle at Mount Langi Ghiran is to preserve their longstanding dedication to quality by ensuring that vineyard cropping yields are kept low and that wines are produced using traditional winemaking practices and minimal intervention.
The 2021 Hollows Sangiovese is made with fruit sourced from our Hollows vineyard on the northern slopes of Mount Langi Ghiran. This vineyard was established by Trevor Mast and was chosen for its protection from the cold south westerlies, its variety of aspects and high quality soils – very similar in fact to the estate’s original plantings. The 2020 Hollows Sangiovese displays plums, dark chocolate and a dusting of spice with a slight almond nuttiness on the finish.
