Hunter Valley, New South Wales. Green gold in colour with a pungent nose that reflects the cooler ripening period of the vintage. The wine has pure citrus characters creating excellent line and length. The palate is long and textured with ripe fruit characters up front, a strong middle palate and a long mineral finish. The fruit characters on the palate will further intensify and complex as the wine matures. The wine is drinking superbly now, however will reward long term cellaring... 2010 James Halliday Australian Wine Companion Winery Rating

VARIETY : Semillon REGION : Broke Fordwich, Hunter Valley VINEYARD : The Sill
WINEMAKERS NOTES: The grapes for this wine were selected from our 40 year old vines growing on our volcanic "Fordwich Sill” vineyards of Broke Fordwich. This vineyard produces wines of a richer softer style with intense citrus like flavours. The vintage was tricky however with low cropping we managed to attain full ripeness with these grapes. Handpicked and 100% estate grown. The juice was fermented under temperature controlled conditions to maintain all of its fruit characters. True to Hunter tradition, no oak is used. TASTING NOTES: The Semillon is straw in colour with a green hue. It displays a bouquet of fresh lemon and lime with hints of crushed nettle. The palate is long, lively and textured with seamless acidity accompanying a long focused finish. Enjoy now as a young, racy wine or cellar for another 5 years (and beyond) to appreciate the aged complexities of classic Hunter Valley semillon. Andrew Margan, Winemaker.
