Laurenz V stands for five generations of the Moser wine dynasty. And, with the daughter of Laurenz Maria Moser - Sophie, born in 1991 - the 6th generation of the family is well on its way.
The grapes for this Veltliner are grown mainly in loess and gravel soils in the Kremstal region. Their distinctive fruitiness is owed to the quite marked yet alternating temperatures which influence the north-south positioned Kremstal. That is the warm air rising from the Danube Valley which is met by cool air flowing down from the nearby Waldviertel region and along the Krems River. While this warmth influences ripeness and concentrated aromas, the coolness brings the fresh fruitiness.
The Gruner Veltliner grapes were hand-harvested between October 1st and 17th. After a very careful pressing the temperature controlled fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks, in order to preserve freshness and fruit driven aromas.
Tasting Notes
Very crisp and crunchy - full of vitality and freshness. The bouquet shows delicate fruity notes of apples and pears with a hint of citrus. The palate follows through with just a hint of spice (white pepper) and wonderful acid balance. Harmonious and great with lightly flavoured fish or shellfish dishes.
Cellaring: The beauty of this wine is its youth and vitality. Enjoy within 12-18 months.
