RockBare wines are sourced entirely from McLaren Vale, a temperate maritime climate of warm sunny days and cool nights, hot dry summers and cool wet winters. This region possesses the ideal conditions for growing world-class grapes. Winemaker Tim Burvill completed his Honours degree in Oenology at the University of Adelaide. Tim was pursued then employed by Southcorp and travelled throughout the wine regions of Australia, working with some of the best winemakers in the country. After 2 years Tim was working for Penfolds winery in the Barossa Valley. In this position he was responsible for super-premium white wines, winning several gold medals. RockBare is the result of Tim’s retreat from the corporate arena into an independent venture. His straight forward, low-intervention winemaking techniques are producing wine with pure varietal definition and intense fruit character.

Palate Luscious, juicy palate of dark cherry and loganberry fruit provide up front supple fleshiness that gracefully integrates with elemental layers of rich mint chocolate, spicy clove, mocha, sweet vanillin, and a pleasant earthiness. The finish is generous with an abundance of mouth coating, chewy tannin and a warming touch of white pepper.

Winemakers Comments
After a brilliant start to the season with cool days and warm nights we hoped that the late spring and early summer rainfall we had received was just an anomaly and that these conditions wouldn’t persist. What ensued however was persistent precipitation and cold conditions leading us to our wettest vintage in 37 years. Tireless work from our growers ensured we were able to turn adversity into some form of triumph however and release a distinctively varietal and regional McLaren Vale Shiraz. With solid colour, a pleasantly fragrant nose, a palate packed with juicy flavour and generous finish I raise my glass to the efforts of all that made this wine possible. Cheers
