Werribee, Victoria. Deep red with purple hues, excellent clarity. Red fruits, star anise, hint of coffee, lifted and complex. Excellent front palate sweetness, full of rich, intense fruit and spicy length. This Shiraz has great breadth of flavour; it fills the mouth with blue fruits and a hint of earth. Tannins are soft and supple, with subtle oak extract adding texture. Slightly lower in acidity than previous vintages, this is a really lovely 05, expressive of the vintage and the vineyard.
Fruit was handpicked over several weeks across our vineyards in Southern Victoria. Bunches were destemmed and the whole berries fermented in open and static fermenters.Time on skins ranged from 7-36 days.After pressing, the new wines were matured in new(12%) and used French oak.The wines were racked once before blending, a light filtration and bottling.
