Cantina Sociale
28 April 2013
Cantina Sociale at 108 Sturt Street Adelaide was one of yours truly and my partners finds on a recent weekend visit to Adelaide. Actually it is our daughter’s find who we were visiting, she happens to live within strolling distance of this establishment and she was very excited about taking us there.
We visited twice early evening over the weekend for pre dinner drinks and some tasty nibbles.
Cantina Sociale offer wines from single barrels sourced from various vineyards dotted around South Australia. Wines not available anywhere else and there is an array of interesting varieties, Tempranillo, Montepulciano, Barbera, Albarino and of course a good South OZ Shiraz and more. And you if the wine tickles your palate you can take away bottles of your favourite.
All wines are served from the barrel by the hospitable, wine passionate and knowledgeable staff.
The food is simple and delicious, jamon, white anchovies, cheese platters, olives, roasted almonds a real Spanish lean and this place has the feel and smell of Spain, the only thing missing is the Spanish language and it is noticeably less noisy than similar places we have visited in Spain.
The Cantina opens 4pm to late Wednesday through Sunday.
My I suggest you rock up early for table space as this place gets very busy and as you walk in the door you will know why.
Do give Cantina Sociale a visit, fantastic atmosphere, wine, nibbles and staff.
