Metropolis Eating House
3 August 2011
Last weekend visitors from QLD and from the Mornington Peninsula visited us, the Queenslanders requested we book the Metropolis Eating House in Brunswick for Saturday dinner as on their last visit to Melbourne we had a memorable lunch there.
There were seven us and we had great evening, and Gabriel the restaurant owner took great care of us.

We started with a Kiwi Riesling from Man of War Vineyard super wine. Kabinett in style, juicy apple flavours balanced with some nice acidity.
A chicken noodle soup with scallop and shiso was the first course, beautiful clean flavours and we imbibed in a Bellvale Chardonnay from Gippsland, and the wine worked a treat with the dish.
We followed with maple glazed quail with a mint salad washed down with a bottle of the 2009 Te Kairanga Pinot Noir from Martinborough NZ. Beautifully cooked quail and the wine - excellent and amazing value - from memory it was $33.00 a bottle.

Lamb was up next served lentils and a daub garlic essence and we paired this dish with a bottle of Pizzini Sangiovese from the King Valley.
Then dessert followed, a butterscotch pannacotta with spiced dates and grapefruit.
And just because we are gluttons we had to try the blue cheese terrine, dried pear to finish.
We left sated and very grateful for the walk home. It was a great meal in the enchanting dining room, with great friends and all very reasonably priced.
